WILLAMETTE WEEK
Turkey For Dinner, Mickeys For Dessert.

DRUNK DIAL: Two employees fired in KUFO’s Radio Black Friday last month have bounced back faster than even they expected. Two weeks ago, former Rick Emerson Show staffers Sarah X. Dylan and Greg Nibler each cracked open a can of Mickeys and debuted their new drinking/talking project Funemployment Radio (funemploymentradio.com), a free, daily podcast featuring everything from live karaoke and bitching about their lack of health insurance to an interview with Meatloaf. By Monday, Nov. 23, it had reached the top 20 on iTunes Comedy audio podcasts—beating out more than 6,000 other comedy podcasts on the site. The duo seem as surprised as anybody when it comes to the quick recognition of their boozy—still unpaid—efforts. “I think it’s the name that initially gets [people] interested, and once we get them to listen they enjoy it,” says Dylan. “Greg and I are making the most of what should be a depressing situation. I think people want to know that it’s not the end of the world if you lose your job.”

-Awesome you found these guys. Funemployment Radio is the best!

-Funemploymentradio really is awesome! Now if we could only get Sarah and Greg to stop drinking crap beer and instead switch to one of the fine locally brewed Portland micro-brews.

-Remember - they're unemployed. Hence the crappy drink choices. I'm sure if someone from a local micro-brew wanted to throw drinks their way every week, they'd happily drink them and probably even prom... SF, Nov 25th, 2009 5:57pm

WRAP IT UP: SARAH X GETS A PODCAST

ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER PODCAST: Cort and Fatboy aren't the only twosome rollling out a new podcast. So are a couple of their fellow ex-KUFO'ers, Sarah X. Dylan and Greg Nibler. They've already rolled out Episode One on the site they call Funemployment Radio (catchy name, kids). It's awesome to see these two back on the audio airwaves. I can't wait to listen to their shows, which will air daily Monday-Friday. And to make sure that listeners understand that this not just another variation of the Rick and Sarah Show, here's what they have to say on their site (and oh by the way, the photo above is Rick and Sarah at last night's tight-as-the-Titanic opening of the Indigo Building that looms above Jake's Restaurant): "Yes, my friends, we have been podcasting for a few days to occupy our time while we wait patiently for the next installment of The Rick Emerson Show to return. This isn't some spin-off of The Rick Emerson Show (please no comparisons to Joey), it's just a daily conversation between the two of us, while we imbibe Mickey's malt liquor and talk about being unemployed - with some Ball Talk, music & pop culture news, soundbites, and chatter about our lives as unemployed "Broadcast Professionals" thrown into the mix. There is a bit of drinking, a bit of profanity, and a bit of...shall we say... crazy, but it's a hell of a lot of fun to be in a (make-shift) studio again!" www.byronbeck.com

GREG NIBLER, SARAH X DYLAN BECOME FUNEMPLOYED
By OREGONMEDIA — Saturday, November 7, 2009; 11:56 pm
Greg Nibler and Sarah X Dylan, formerly of The Rick Emerson Show, have begun a new daily podcast, Funemployment Radio. In episode one, which premiered Thursday, the two get progressively drunk as the discussion begins with Nibler's house, where the show is recorded, his bomb-making meth head neighbors, and the former marijuana grow room in his basement. Also discussed: the lack of an option for "radio host" on Oregon's unemployment website, haunted houses, crazy people on YouTube and in the Midwest, adventures in New Orleans, and the return of Ball Talk, Nibler's sports segment. The show closes with karaoke, drunkenly sung by what sounds a bit like Sarah and Bob Dylan.

Talk about a timely name! Sarah X. Dylan and Greg Nibler, late of the Rick Emerson show on KUFO-FM, haven't been sitting idly by, mourning the loss of a gig. Nope, the pair have been performing "Funemployment Radio," their own podcast, in which the ever-lively duo discuss pop culture, sports and news, sing karaoke and report on parties they attend, wild events they participate in and all sorts of general hootin' and hollerin'. For information on where to download the shows check out: http://funemploymentradio. com.
REVIEWS ON iTUNES:
-Unrestrained by the binds of employment, Sarah and Greg produce a compelling mix of personal experiences and discussions, pop-culture commentary, and interviews in this regularly recorded endeavor by the unemployed. After nearly a decade of enjoying Sarah on the Rick Emerson Show, she finally gets to put it all out there and carry the entire show alongside Greg Nibler, who is a solid and entertaining co-host. Listening to this podcast is a lot like sitting around on the stoop on the middle of the weekday with your unemployed (and possibly slightly mentally off) friends drinking and laughing and having a good time. And that’s the main point of this whole show – fun.

-It’s a fantastic way to relate to what’s going on right now. Hilarious and poignant. I just wish there was some way to know what kinds of goods and products they are into so I could go purchase them immediately.
